Hostelworld runs its affiliate programme through Partnerize — its signup routes to signup.partnerize.com — covering more than 36,000 properties across 179 countries. The commission structure is the part worth understanding properly, and it is unusual. Affiliates earn on a CPA basis, but the commission is calculated as a percentage of the deposit Hostelworld earns on each booking, not as a percentage of the booking value. Hostelworld takes a deposit at the point of booking and the traveller pays the balance at the hostel, so a percentage of that deposit is a much smaller amount than the same percentage of the total stay would be. Hostelworld does not publish what that percentage is, so the commission field here is empty. Tracking uses a unique affiliate ID on a stated 30-day cookie policy with last-click attribution, meaning the commission goes to the last referring link clicked.
